SWIMMERS took to the water at Newbold Comyn Leisure Centre in an attempt to break world records.

Around 300 swimmers from across the globe, aged 18 to 85, descended on the pool for the Midlands Master’s Swimming Championships.

Water-loving Judy Wilson from France – who is 70-years-old and the current world record holder in her age group for the 50 metre butterfly – managed to break her record, while Keith Ingram from Birmingham broke British records in the 200m butterfly and 400m individual medley events.

Warwick District Council spokeswoman for culture, Sue Gallagher, said: “We are delighted to have been invited to host this important regional swimming event at Newbold Comyn for the last 20 years.

“It is great to see so many competitors from all age groups and from all over the country taking part.”
