Wembley dream still alive and kicking for Racing Club Warwick

Leamington Editorial 16th Nov, 2017   0

FOOTBALL: RACING Club Warwick are a step closer to appearing at Wembley after defeating Alsager 2-1 at home in the second round of the FA Vase.

The win sets up a third round tie against Wisbech Town to be played on Saturday, December 2.

Racing established the road to a second win in the opening half when goals from Luke Church and Cole handed the home side an early two-goal advantage.

Warwick’s goals were the result of building pressure as Cole should’ve earned Racing an early lead on 15 minutes when his strike from eight yards was blasted over Alsager’s crossbar.

Just 11 minutes later, Racing took the lead when Church scored the first of two goals.

Racing quickly doubled their lead when Luke Cole scored from close range to gift the home side a two-goal lead.

Though Alsager saw a man sent off in the second half, they pressed with more intent.

And their efforts were rewarded on 74 minutes when scoring from close range.

Though Alsager missed a last minute corner, Racing played out the concluding minutes to book their sport in the third round.
