WELLESBOURNE Ladies won the Midlands Ladies Touch League Tournament on Sunday.

A 12-strong team opened the tournament with a 1-0 victory with newcomer Natalie Monaghan bagging the only try of the game.

Wellesbourne took on Daybrook next and fell behind relatively quickly but they fought back with Rachel Kendall touching down to level the score.

Monoghan then scored in her second consecutive game to secure the win for Wellesbourne who topped the pool group stages to move into the final pool stage.

Next up for the ladies was a tough test against an experienced Bredon side.

Claire Davies opened the scoring for Wellesbourne who then conceded twice to fall behind.

Natasha Rose then levelled the score but Bredon snatched the win with not long left on the clock.

The final match pitted Wellesbourne against previous tournament winners Camp Hill.

Rose put Wellesbourne ahead with Dorothy Bartlett making it 2-0.

Camp Hill responded and managed to get it back to 2-2.

However, it would be Wellesbourne to snatch victory, thanks to some quick thinking between Claire Davis and Rose.

The results across the games meant each team in the final pool had one win and one loss under their belt.

However, Wellesbourne had the upper hand on number of tries scored to be crowned overall winners.
