OUTSIDE back Paolo Odogwu says the future is bright for everyone connected with Wasps, after penning a new contract with the club.
The 23-year-old, a member of the Ricoh Arena outfit since his move from Sale Sharks in 2019/20, has been a leading light for Lee Blackett’s side this season – running over six tries in eight appearances this term – earning himself a call-up to Eddie Jones’ Six Nations side in the process.
With Wasps intent on going one better than their Gallagher Premiership final defeat to Exeter Chiefs last term, Odogwu says he and his teammates are all moving in the right direction.
“I’m having a great time playing in this team at the moment, I’ve felt at home ever since I joined the environment,” he said.
“There’s a great culture and buzz about the place and working with all the coaches over the past couple years has given me the confidence in my ability and the opportunity to show what I can do on the field.
“I have really loved my time at the club so far.
“All the squad are working hard to build on the progress we have made recently and I’m excited about being part of Wasps’ future.”
The new deal, of which length is undisclosed by the club, proves a signal of intent from Wasps bosses to keep a firm hold of their prized asset.
And among those most impressed by his upturn in performances is his head coach, who remains an avid supporter of the Coventry native.
“We are very happy that Paolo has committed his future to Wasps,” Blackett added.
“He has been a revelation this season, showing to everyone the exciting player we knew he was. We look forward to seeing much more of that excitement in a Wasps shirt over the coming seasons.”
