OVER 50 youngsters are set to showcase their skills at an Under-11 inter-county tournament taking place at Freedom Leisure Warwick later this month.
Five courts at the centre will stage the Squash Championship on April 15 (10am-5pm) which is expected to attract many of the region’s top young players.
Alongside the competition, Freedom Leisure will be holding free squash sessions for young people under the age of 16 and these will be provided by qualified coaches.
“We are delighted to be hosting the girls’ under-11s championships and hope many spectators will come along to support the players and enjoy the tournament,” says Stuart Harding, manager of Freedom Leisure.
“Often with these spectator events, people are inspired to try the sport themselves or get itchy feet because they’re watching activity but are not on the move themselves.
“We hope that by having some free squash try-out sessions, youngsters can give the game a go and act on the inspiration of seeing other children playing squash at a competitive level.”
