Warwick race to dominant victory over Hinckley AFC

RACING Club Warwick stepped up their promotion push in MFL Division 1 with a thumping 5-1 victory over Hinckley AFC on Tuesday night.

Ben Mackey was kept out by Hinckley stopper Yinka Adebowale in the 14th minute, but Trea Bertie made no mistake to tuck away the opening goal.

Midway through the half their lead was extended, when George Curry pearled a 25-yard free-kick into the top-corner as Warwick continued to step up the heat on their opponents.

But despite their dominance, the scoreline was opened up when David Jones flicked the ball over his marker before proceeding to curl the ball goalwards and find the net before the break.

Hinckley found some renewed drive to push for an equaliser with a number of chances, but shot themselves in the foot when Jean Dakouri received a second booking to diminish his side’s hopes of a comeback.

Curry rubbed salt in the Hinckley wound by wrapping a second free-kick of the game past Adebowale with an unstoppable strike that nestled in the top corner.

New signing Lewis Hayden demonstrated great footwork to stay on his feet mid-way through his run at goal, allowing him to pick out Bertie who slid the ball home for his second and Racing’s fourth of the night.

The scoring was complete when Hayden notched his name on the scoresheet by darting the ball just inside the post to rubber-stamp a convincing victory.

Next up for Warwick is another home fixture at Townsend Meadow, as they welcome Uttoexter Town on Saturday (3pm).
