WARWICK secured maximum points with a comfortable 111 run victory over Wythall to boost their Warwickshire League Division Five promotion challenge on Saturday.

After being invited to bat first, Warwick found life difficult as they slipped to 85 for 5 after 27 overs but skipper Matt Warren and Rajan Bhatti then rebuilt the innings with a 79 run partnership, scoring 55 and 52 respectively.

Josh Osbourne (13) and Tom Austin (26 not out) then added 39 runs in the last six overs as Warwick posted 207 for 8.

Jordan Ottley was the pick of the bowlers for the visitors with figures of 2 for 29 from his 12 overs, while Anthony Kilroy collected three wickets and conceded 43 runs from his 12 overs.

In reply, Wythall found life difficult as they lost two early wickets in the shape of Abdul Rahman and Zohaib Zahid before Nick Tongue was dismissed by Tom Austin to leave the home side on 51 for 3.

The middle order then subsided as they struggled to cope with the pace of Rajan Singh Bhatti (4 for 9) and the swing of Austin (4 for 49).

Shoaib Shah struck five boundaries in a late cameo but Wythall were dismissed for 96 in the 28th over.
