IT PROVED to be a winning start to 2015 for Leamington Cycling and Athletics Club after coming away from the Midland Indoor Championships in Birmingham with two Gold medals.
The first medals went to under-15s Georgia Clarke who produced a superb performance to win the 300metre race in 44.44.
Sophie Smales also competed in the same race and claimed fourth place in a time of 46.38, with both girls achieving new personal best times.
The other Gold medal went to senior thrower Mary Donaldson who defended her shot putt title with a season’s best throw of 9.87metres.
In the under-15s category Sophie Hunt narrowly missed out on a place on the podium after throwing a personal best to finish fourth.
There were also impressive displays from Makun Madar (under-20) who finished third in his heat in the 200metre event in 24.48 and he also ran in the 60m coming sixth in a new personal best time of 7.57.
Morgan Reeves had two solid races in the 400m, running a 53.14 to come second in his heat which which put him through to the final where he ran 53.3 to finish fourth.
Isobel Davis produced a season’s best performance of 2:26.59 over the 800m coming to come third in her heat. Lloyd Ellis came fourth in the 60mH where she was able to squeeze a few tenths off his personal best and Maddison Illsley ran a season’s best in her hurdles race to claim eighth in a time of 10.02.
