TRANSFER - Leamington make Usher-Shipway first summer signing

Leamington Editorial 13th Jun, 2022   0

LEAMINGTON have announced the signing of former Solihull Moors midfielder Ben Usher-Shipway.

Usher-Shipway becomes manager Paul Holleran’s first addition of the summer as the Brakes look to climb up the National League North table next season.

The 23-year-old spent three years on the books of Solihull and was loaned out on several occasions during his time with Moors to gain first-team experience before he was released at the end of the 2021/22 season.

This included temporary spells with Alvechurch, Nuneaton Borough, Sutton Coldfield Town, Stourbridge and Rushall Olympic having started his career at Boldmere St Michaels.

Holleran said: “We’re delighted to get this one over the line. Ben is a young lad with experience at a higher level, and we are really looking forward to working with him.

“He is a versatile lad who can play on the wing or in defence, and we feel he has all the attributes to take a similar path that other young players have done while at Leamington.”

Usher-Shipway added: “I’m delighted to join the club, a club of great history and to play for a manager who everyone in non league admires.

“I’m looking forward to getting my head down and proving myself at the level.

“The past three years have been stop start for me so I’m looking forward to having a full season in the National League North and hopefully bring success to the club.”
