COUNTBACK was required to determine the outcome of a keenly contested ladies Medal and LGU pin competition at Kenilworth Golf Club.

Emma Saywell, who also recorded the best gross score, emerged triumphant in Division One by virtue of a better back nine than Liz Brown after they both carded 71.

It was equally as close in Division Two with a better back nine helping Amanda Johnson edge out Sue Shortland after they both returned 74. Kim Edwards completed a double by winning Division Three with an impressive 71, which also landed the LGU pin for the best nett score, while Sheila Courts finished runner-up on 77.

Doreen Ritchie won the nine-hole competition from Sheila Duckham.

Meanwhile, Judith Wells and Lyn Blasdale will represent Kenilworth in the Daily Mail Foursomes after winning the club event with nett 72 from runners-up Maggie Smith and Cath Hoare nett 73.5.

The in-form Lyn Blasdale also won the latest Stableford/Grannies competition at Crewe Lane with her 36 points just beating runner-up Val Cushing on countback.

The Division Two winner was Catherine Midgley with 36 points from Teresa Douthwaite 33, while Mary Hills, who also took the Grannies prize, proved a comfortable winner of Division Three with 36 points from Eileen Rafique 32.

The nine-hole sableford saw success for Doreen Ritchie from Marion Maclean.

Richard Moon amassed an excellent 41 points to win the Midweek Extra Medal from Neil Chatwin 39 and Phil Pegler 38.

The Division Two winner was David Payne with 38 points from Mike Hastings 38 and James Knights 36.
