RUGBY ARTISTIC SWIMMING CLUB won five medals at the West Midlands Regional Competition in the first face-to-face competition in 18 months.

Rugby’s Lola Hewitt won gold in the under-12 age group whilst Team Aladdin took gold in the 13-15 years category in Division One.

And Rugby’s Team America under 12’s claimed silver with the 13-15 years Division Two team also earning a silver despite being the smallest team to enter.

Rugby’s Team Dreams completed the medal haul with a bronze in the 15-18 years category in Division Two.

And Head Coach Hannah Secher was also presented with the Engagement and Innovation Award for a Coach in the West Midlands by Swim England.

The day began with Lola’s gold in the under-12’s figure competition in which competitors are scored on their technical performance of individual figures.

That was followed by Team America’s silver as the team of Daisy Jenkins, Emily Minor, Harriet Humphrey, Beatrice Banks, Laura Oddy, Alice Pavlova, Daisy Clark, Darcey Townsend and Isabel Byrne delivered a confident performance.

And the medals continued to come Rugby’s way as the 13-15 years team of Agata Sitko, Natalia Rodriguez, Rebecca Harper, Evelyn Whisker, Lily Van Vleit, Freya Twiss, Jasmine Farr, Poppy Jenkins and Emilia Owen won gold for their competent, precise, and expressive Aladdin themed routine.

The 13-15 years Division Two team of Chloe Barrett-Leafe, Sophie Henry, Alexa Holland, Imogen Ravenhall, Tyra Watson and Amy Buckley then won silver with their Kung Fu Panda routine.

And the day was rounded off by Team Dreams in the 15-18 years category as their disco-themed routine saw Edith Joth, Hatty McMilan, Gabriella Ravenhall, Sophie Lowe, Jayoda Czuplak, Lola Marsay, Ariane Sargent, Jessica Barret-Leafe, and Mia Timothy come away with the bronze medal.

Rugby Head Coach Secher was then presented with her special award in recognition of her commitment and hard work in the success and evolution of the Rugby Club.

The Rugby Teams are now back in training and poised for the national competitions coming up in March and April 2022, with much anticipation to be competing live with a full audience, Covid permitting.
