RUGBY Artistic Swimming Club’s Senior Team produced a fantastic performance at the National Junior and Senior Artistic Swimming Championships, held at the Harvey Hadden Sports Complex in Nottingham.

The Championships are the highest level of domestic competition for artistic swimmers and saw Rugby deliver some of its best performances of the season against the top artistic swimmers in the country including Team GB athletes.

In the Free Team event, Rugby were represented by Maisie Grinter, Emily Dakin, Lili Carroll, Sophie Thomas, Eve Howard, Bethany Clarke, Lola Dudkowsky, Charlie Putt, Josie Mozley and Olivia Tyers who secured fifth place overall with a brilliant performance of their ‘SUN’ routine as they narrowly missed out on fourth place by just 0.2 of a mark.

And in the Technical Team event Rugby were represented by Maisie, Emily, Jess Farndon, Charlie, Lili, Sophie, Lola, Olivia, Eve and Poppy Williams as their impressive ‘In the Heights’ routine secured seventh place overall in a close field.

Junior members Olivia and Lola represented the club in the Technical Solo event with the latter finishing sixth in the junior age group category in another excellent display.

Rugby were also represented in the Free Duet and Free Solo event by Matilda John and India Townsend who were pleased with their performances whilst senior member Maisie also delivered a great individual performance..

Head Coach Hannah Secher said: “This event has been an extremely long time in coming for these swimmers and what a fantastic competition it was for Rugby!

“The results are testament to the commitment and dedication of the whole team including Team Managers Tracy Anne Grinter and Vicky Putt and Coach Alice Dale.

“The whole club wishes those that are moving on every success as they embark on University and other new ventures.”

Team Managers Tracy Anne Grinter and Vicky Putt added: “The Senior Team are all committed, hard-working, and supportive young ladies who are truly inspiring to the younger members of the club. We could not be more proud of every single one of them.”

Rugby were represented in each competition category (Free and Technical) with their solo, duet and team routines with Junior swimmers (aged 15 years and under) receiving a ranking in their own age group as well as an overall ranking.

This year’s competition proved to be both exciting and emotional for Rugby’s swimmers with all but one of the 14-strong squad competing at the event for the first time and also signalled the final time they would compete together as a team having progressed through the age groups at the club.
