SPA Striders’ men’s and women’s teams impressed in the final race of their cross country campaigns.
The men, who have competed in Division Two of the Birmingham XC League this term, were over in Telford – where Ian Allen won the race by an impressive 38 seconds in 31 minutes and 54 seconds.
He was followed close behind by Chris McKeown (33:48), Adam Notley (36:03), Steven Taylor (36:40) and John-Paul Hunt (38:00) inside the top 100, while Chris Liddle, Chris Wilson, Luke Bennett, William Allman and Paul Kirby completed the Striders line-up.
Spa’s men’s A team placed sixth overall, while the B team finished ninth, while Allen unsurprisingly won the overall individual title for the league after two race wins and a third place in his three races run.
Meanwhile, the women’s team finished their Midland Women’s XC League Division One campaign over at Newbold Comyn.
Jo Fleming (26:14), Claire Davidson (26:24), Laura Peake (26:56) and Fiona Ferguson (27:14) all scored points for the Striders, helping the club finish the race in ninth place overall.
The trio of Fleming, Davidson and Peake all competed in the masters race, where the Striders placed second.
While the overall rankings for the Division One campaign are yet to be published, the Striders have earned third place in the masters results for this season.
