Success for Spa Striders in Rugby

IT PROVED to be a successfull afternoon for Leamington-based Spa Striders after they secured a handful of winners at the Rugby 10km event.

A total of 25 Striders headed over to Barby on Sunday on what was a sunny and still day, making it ideal conditions for running.

Striders took both the men’s and women’s overall team prizes and alos claimed several category prizes too which included plenty of personal best (PB) times.

Will Johnson came in eighth in a PB time of 59.02 and he was closely followed by team mates Tim Down (19th – 1.02.46 PB), Paul Edwards (21st – 1.03.55 PB) and Chris McKeown (23rd – 1.04.27 PB).

Carolyn Wilkinson led the charge for the women and finished fifth overall in a time of 1.09.19 which was a new club record for the V45 category and she also won the Warwickshire Road Race League V45 category in the process.

Next home for Striders was Kate Gadsby (1.13.23) and Bethan Gwynn (1.14.44), while there were several PB’s for the women including Susan Cox (1.14.53), Caroline Whitehouse (1.14.55), Susie Stannard (1.16.19) and Jude Baum (1.21.18).
