SPA Striders enjoyed success at home and abroad in the latest round-up of action.

The club were represented by 19 runners in the London Marathon, a record turn out for the Striders, with Chris Liddle (2:43:34) leading the way in 627th place overall.

Chris McKeown (2:58:08) and Ian Allen (2:54:49) were the only other runners to finish under the three hour mark.

Mel Venables was the first woman to cross the line for the Striders (3:14:33), whilst James Hartwright (3:17:09), Carolyn Wilkinson (3:22:46), Laura Peake (3.21:56) and Sue Cox (3:32:22) followed soon thereafter.

The rest of the Spa Striders to complete the London Marathon were: Katherine Lambeth (3:37:11), Bethan Gwynn (3:43:25), Anne Hurrell (3:44:10), Ruth Tennant (3:59:56), Graham Donoghue (4:01:50), Gavin Edgerton (4:14:13), Sandra Stokes (4:22:28), Dave Lithgow (4:27:36), Emma Teevan (5:30:04) and Pete Soley (7:14:10).

Over in Pontevedra, Spain on Saturday, Helen Wright and Lucy Tugwell represented Great Britain at the ITU World Multisport Championships as duathletes.

Tugwell finished 13th in her age group, whilst Wright came fifth in her age category – despite having to overcome shin splints in doing so.

Meanwhile, in the Shakespeare Half Marathon in Stratford-on-Avon on Sunday, both Joseph McCullagh (1:37:01) and Bev Stephens (1:55:56) recorded personal best times.

Chris Wilson (1:29:25) and Keith Wilson (1:46:11) also completed the Half, whilst Ben Parkinson completed the Striders contingent with a time of 3:48:19.

In Scotland at the Stirling Marathon, Neil Smith ran a time of 2:54:44 to finish in 14th place overall, whilst Simon Ludford came in a respectable 34th after crossing the line at 3:02:44.

The trio of Vicky Sharpe, James Hodges and Mike Pugh overcame adverse weather conditions to record excellent finishes in the Southam Sprint Triathlon.

Sharpe was the 20th fastest lady, whilst Pugh ranked 17th overall.

Vicki Smith ranked third in her age group at the Wombourne Sprint Triathlon, and Shaun Martin completed the Leicester Big 10k in 50:05 in the remainder of the action for the club.
