Striders in Berlin and 70-up for Draper - the latest from Spa Striders

TWO runners from Spa Striders took to the continent for the Berlin Marathon on Sunday.

Chris Liddle and Chris McKeown braved the elements in the German capital, with the former finishing in 2:44:43, while the latter battled on to cross the line in 3:17:02 after sustaining an injury mid-race.

Another Strider who had to cope with injury was Kat Robertson, who still managed to complete the Blenheim Palace Half Marathon in 1:41:13, while Andy Pope recorded a personal best time of 1:35:34 at the Robin Hood Half Marathon in Nottingham.

Racing in her 70th marathon, Liz Draper travelled to the Cotswolds to compete in the Aston Subedge Marathon, celebrating the milestone with a time of five hours and 17 minutes.




Ian Allen (1:14:12) was seventh overall in the Cheltenham Half Marathon, while Mairi Walker (1:29:46) earned a new personal-best time and placed as the tenth-fastest female runner.

In Northern Ireland at the Causeway Coast Ultra 40-mile race, Zoe Beale (8:12:16) and Ash Hogg (8:55:04) recorded fine finishes, as did Tom Gotts (1:42:30) north of the border in the Great Scottish Run.


Elsewhere, Ben Howat (1:46:42), Claire Rawbone (1:01:20) and Nigel Fox (50:34) completed the Tissington Trail Half Marathon, the Windsor Women’s 10k and Bournville Leafy 10k events respectively.
