SOUTHAM’s Amy Timlin prepares to make her professional boxing debut this weekend, in a bumper showcard at Walsall’s Town Hall on Saturday.

Timlin, a former kickboxing world champion, first changed over to pick up the gloves back in 2017, and has had nine amateur fights since then – winning five.

In her previous career, she won a British title, five national titles, a Commonwealth, a European and a World title, and signed professional terms with Black Country Boxing Promotions in March this year.

Receiving the tutelage of head coaches Paul Mann and Errol Johnson, and having started out at Frankie Gavin’s Ringside Gym, Timlin is no stranger to having had prestigious eyes cast on her abilities.

She now faces her biggest challenge to date on Saturday, but admits that she is going into it with no fear.

“I can’t wait,” she said.

“I think the pro game will suit me as I like to sit down on my shots. I’m excited to be working with BCB and can’t wait to make my professional debut.

“This is the start of an exciting journey for me. I’ve been training really hard and have already learnt a lot in a short space of time.

Timlin became the sixth female boxer to sign terms with BCB, joining Kristine Shergold, Rachel Ball, Kirstie Bavington, Dani Hodges and Lauren Johnson on the books.

Also on the card is a fellow debutant in Ruben Campbell, joining the super lightweight ranks in which his father Ray also featured himself in the early 1990s.

Ricky Summers, under the guidance of new trainer Spencer McCracken also features fighting for the British light heavyweight title, whilst James Beech Jr is defending his super featherweight crown on Saturday.

Tommy Loach from West Bromwich returns to fight on the card after a year out with injury, hoping to defend his unbeaten record, whilst England boxer Liam Davies is hoping to earn a third win since turning pro.

Middleweight boxer Kelcie Ball completes the card, and fights for the first time for BCB Promotions.

Tickets are priced at £35 for standard, £40 entry on the door, or £65 for VIP ringside seats, complete with a buffet and waitress service, and are available for purchase from Walsall Town Hall’s box office on 08451 112900.
