UPDATE: Further inspection required for Warwick's New Year's Eve raceday

HORSE RACING: SNOWFALL and heavy rain has prompted Warwick Racecourse Clerk of the Course Jane Hedley to call a further inspection at midday on Saturday, December 30, for the course’s New Year’s Eve meeting.

Snow fell across the county on Wednesday, December 27, night – the second dose of snow the region has had to deal with in as many weeks.

The ground is currently heavy with areas of standing water on the course.

The course tweeted this morning: “Following this morning’s inspection, there will be a further inspection at noon on Saturday.

“Currently heavy with patchy snow and areas of standing water.

“Milder temperatures should clear remaining snow but we need to see improvement in terms of standing water.”

Temperatures are due to rise as the week progresses, particularly on Saturday when highs of 12C are expected.

More news as we get it.
