SNOWDON was conquered by a trio of athletes from Spa Striders in another record-breaking week for the club.

Emma Bish, Michelle Hutton and Gethryn Friswell took on the 4,249 foot mountain in an Inov-8 X middle distance event, taking place over the course of 23k.

Friswell was the first to complete the race, despite suffering a fall two miles from the finish line, running home in a 3:57:58 time, while Bish and Hutton finished in 4:41:04.

Down in London, Mel Venables was involved in an ultra distance event at the Self Transcendence 24 Hour Track Race, where she ranked 33rd after completing an incredible 381 laps and 95 miles in total.

Ian Allen was a winner at the Balsall Common 10k, racing home in a 33:45 time to secure more crucial points in the Warwickshire Road Race League, closely followed by another Strider in Chris McKeown (35:00), who finished fourth.

Trevor Wilkinson (38:37, 19th), Chris Wilson (39:58, 27th), Lloyd Harriman (40:31, 31st), Joe McCullagh (41:03, 36th), David Chantrey (41:05, 37th), Paul Quinney (41:31, 40th) and Claire Davidson (42:00, 45th) then completed the top 50 for the club.

The quartet of Simon Ludford, Adam Notley, Neil Smith and Steve Taylor qualified for the National Road Relay Championships, after placing 23rd in the Midlands Road Relays.

It makes them the only local side to qualify for the Championships, while the women finished in a respectable 35th place.

On Sunday, Laura Peake (1:31:18) set a new personal best time and was the fourth-fastest female runner at the Swindon Half Marathon, while Liz Draper completed her 69th marathon in Hull – finishing in four hours and 21 minutes.

Mike Pugh (5:04:06) led the way for the Striders at the Outlaw X triathlon, later joined by Pete Scofield (6:23:15) and Claire Westrope (7:09:26) across the finish line at Thoresbury Park in Nottinghamshire.
