OLD LEAMINGTONIANS RFC maintained their perfect start to the season with a 24-7 bonus point win against Burbage which marked the club’s ninth successive victory in the league.
Kai Cott, Callum Gosse, Joe O’Loughlen and Archie Semple all crossed for tries with the latter scoring right at the death to claim Old Leamingtonians eighth bonus point of the campaign.
The result means Old Leamingtonians remain top of the Midlands 3 West (South) table – eight points clear of their nearest challengers Ledbury.
And the home side scored the game’s first try through prop Cott after Henry Reynolds found touch deep inside the Burbage half when he produced a stunning 50/22 kick.
Old Leamingtonians extended their lead when a fast three-quarter attack set-up Gosse to break the line and score which was converted.
Burbage reduced the deficit with an intercept try shortly after only for the home side to score their third try through O’Loughlen.
The wing touched down in the corner after some good work from the Old Leamingtonians pack with the try converted to send the hosts into the break with a 19-7 lead.
Despite the wind making for an error-strewn game – Old Leamingtonians completed the scoring when fullback Semple finished a sweeping move in the final few moments to secure a bonus point win.
Old Leamingtonians are next in action away at Coventry Welsh on Saturday, December 11 with kick-off at 2.15pm at Burbages Lane.
