LEAMINGTON RFC suffered a narrow 25-20 defeat against Barkers Butts to suffer their first home defeat in four matches.
John Brear and Greg Atherton touched down for Leamington with Sam Nunn adding a penalty and conversion in vain as the hosts fell just short in their comeback attempt.
The result leaves Leamington in ninth place in the Midlands 2 West (South) table, three places off the bottom and four pints behind Kidderminster in eighth.
Both teams and supporters joined together in a minute’s applause before kick-off with the number 11 shorts retired for the day in memory of Evesham wing Jack Jeffrey who died last week.
Leamington are next in action away at Berkswell and Balsall on Saturday, March 5 with kick-off at 2.15pm at Honiley Road.
