LEAMINGTON RFC finished their campaign with a 46-24 defeat away at Nuneaton Old Edwardians as they secured an eighth try bonus point of the season.
Louis Dunbavin, John Brear, Alistair Weedon and George Jacobs all crossed for tries against a Nuneaton side who clinched the title with a bonus point win.
The result means Leamington finish their season in ninth place in the Midlands 2 West (South) table.
Nuneaton raced into a 12-point lead with two tries in the opening 20 minutes before Craig Smith thought he had reduced the deficit when he charged down a kick and collected to score only for the ball to have crossed the dead ball line.
Leamington eventually found a way through when prop Dunbavin crashed over from Gareth Shuttleworth’s pass only for Nuneaton to score two further tries before the break to lead 24-5 at the interval.
And Nuneaton struck again early in the second half before Leamington added their second try through Brear who bushed aside the home defenders and dived over from Jacobs’ quick tap penalty with Sam Nunn quickly adding the extras.
The visitors scored again when Jacobs danced his way through to the line after Tom Lane secured possession at a lineout following good work from Dunbavin and Smith.
Nuneaton scored two further tries before the final whistle whilst Leamington secured a bonus point with their fourth of the afternoon as Weedon touched down from a powerful maul with Nunn adding the conversion.
