RAVI BAGA and Achawin Saiyai teamed up to good effect to win the President’s Cup at Kenilworth Golf Club on Sunday.

The duo took advantage of near perfect conditions to rack up an impressive 47 points and win the annual competition, which took the form of a four ball better ball stableford off threequarter handicaps, by three points.

Simon Hegan and Adrian Riddell finished runners-up with 44 points from in-form Andrew Harris and David Sheepy 43, Nick Coleman and Andrew Taylor 42, Bob Harison and Roger Jones 42, Sam O’Sullivan and Dave Titman 42 and Phil Adcock and Chris Tucker 42.

President Mike Hastings and his wife Anne generously provided welcome refreshments at the halfway house, while none of the four major prizes for a hole-in-one were won although Hywel Green narrowly missed out on the £5,000 up for grabs for an ace on the 10th with a shot which finished just 54 centimetres from the pin.

Green did take the nearest the pin prize, which was a day in a vintage Morgan from Revival Cars of Coventry, while Mark Thorne won the straightest drive on the 12th.
