Racers look to find form in FA Vase test against Sphinx

Leamington Editorial 17th Nov, 2021   0

RACING Club Warwick will look to put their league travails to one side to seek to reach the FA Vase third round on Saturday.

The Racers’ 2-1 defeat at Boldmere St Michaels, plus a win for Haughmond, pushed Scott Easterlow’s side to the foot of the Midland League Premier Division.

They return to Hampton Lane on Saturday when Coventry Sphinx head down the A45 looking to reach the third round for the fourth time in their history.

Last Saturday’s match at Boldmere was a close-fought encounter.

The Mikes’ Alex McSkeane opened the scoring three minutes before half-time and doubled the lead just past the hour.

Warwick got a reply through Hannibal Sallami but they slipped to the foot of the table, two points from safety.

Connor Mort, Harry Davies, Aswad Ssemwogerere, and an own goal earned the Racers U23s a 4-2 victory at home to Sutton Rangers.
