Racers left to settle for point after leading three times

RACING Club Warwick earned a point at AFC Wulfrunians after taking the lead three times, only to be pegged back on each occasion.

The Racers opened the scoring in the Midland League Premier Division game after just 22 seconds. After picking up possession Romario Martin cleverly set Miracle Okafor through to poke the ball past the keeper.

Wulfrunians equalised on 22 minutes when a Jamie Meadow’s shot deflected into the path of Aaron Bishop to fire home.

Martin soon put Racing back in front when Charlie Jones slid a delightful ball through the middle for Martin to race through and score.

Again, Wulfs responded and a hopeful shot from Mat Johnson bobbled in front of keeper Ben Maxwell and bounced agonisingly over him.

Martin again gave Racing the lead with a 30-yard free-kick placed superbly off the inside of the post but yet again Scott Easterlow’s side failed to hold onto a lead with the goal of the game from Panashe Madamba, firing a rasping 25-yard shot into the top corner.

Racing entertain Bewdley Town this Saturday, 3pm kick-off.

Racing Club Warwick U23s came from behind to beat Kidderminster Harriers Reserves 4-1 at Townsend Meadow on Saturday with two goals from Hannibal Sallami and a goal each from Beckham Whalley and Stan Dube.
