CHARLIE Perkins starred with a hat-trick in Warwick’s 7-1 opening win over North Stafford in Midlands Division One.
Summer signings Albie Cohen, Max Grossmith and Sam Philpott – who became the club’s record signing after making the move from Berlin – all starred in the rout, with Perkins stabbing home his first of the game after Cohen had struck the post.
A rampant second half followed, with Martyn Stickley, Grossmith and a double from Tim Williams-Ellis putting the visitors firmly in control.
Perkins then finished from Cohen’s pass before securing his hat-trick from a quickly-taken corner.
North Stafford found a consolation late on, though Warwick go into Saturday’s (1pm) meeting with Bridgnorth in good spirits.
An error early in the second half by Warwick men’s fourth XI was their undoing against Rugby & East Warwickshire’s fifth XI, with Baz Holton scoring the only goal, while the men’s third XI were thrashed 9-0 by the University of Birmingham’s fourth team.
Leicester City were 4-0 winners against Warwick men’s fifth side, though the women’s third XI provided some positivity with their 8-0 thrashing of Berkswell & Balsall Common Seconds.
