ORIENTEERING - Octavian Droobers win five individual titles at Midlands Championships

OCTAVIAN DROOBERS ORIENTEERING CLUB members won five individual Midlands Championship titles at Sherwood Forest.

The event, organised by Nottinghamshire Orienteering Club, saw Nathan Lawson take the title on the M21 Elite 16.6km course in 88mins 49secs beating William Gardner into second place in 89mins 11secs.

Kirsten Strain was top runner on the W35 7.3km course in 52mins 52secs whilst Anne Straube was champion on the W45 6.7km course in 57mins 55secs.

Alistair Landels became M50 champion in 62mins 51secs on the 9.6km course and Barry Elkington took first place on the M65 6.7km course in a time of 46mins 59secs.




Top-three places were earned by Nadine Wright who finished second on the W21 course, Juliette Soulard who placed second in her W50 class, Sheila Carey on the W75 course and Hilary Simpson on the W80 course.

Elsewhere, David Leadley was third on the M55 course in 61mins 56secs only 35 seconds behind the winner with Margaret Willdig third in the W65 class.


The next local event takes place in the woods at Everdon Stubbs, near Daventry on Saturday, February 19.
