TRIPLE Warwickshire champion Ellen Stone continued her impressive form as she cruised to victory in the 17/over 200m breaststroke final at the British Gas Midland Youth Championships in Corby.

Swimmers aged 15 and over from around the region compete all year hoping to gain the tough qualifying times to compete in the event and Leamington Swimming Club ace Stone was in the mood to impress as she added the title of Midland Youth Champion to her repertoire.

Team-mate Hannah Greenshield produced a new personal best in both the heats and the final of the 50m butterfly, which saw a ferocious length by all eight competitors who were separated by less than a second.

Sixteen-year-old Connor Connell took his place in the final of the 100m breaststroke whilst Philip Warren, 15, competing in his first Midland Championships, rose to the challenge in both the 100m and 200m freestyle to knock seconds from his 200m freestyle time, recording 2.07.56.

In the backstroke events Jessica Nash, 16, produced a season’s best in the 200m as she slashed three seconds from her personal best and in the 100m event Nash, Greenshield and Maddie Spalding all clocked up new best times.
