TORRID CONDITIONS did not stop Spa Striders from turning out in force at the Warwick Half Marathon on Sunday.

As ever, it was Ian Allen who was the trailblazer for the Striders , breaking a club and course record for the race by crossing the line in one hour, nine minutes and 37 seconds.

In achieving the feat, Allen finished over three minutes faster than nearest rival Richard Shephard.

Neil Smith, finishing in 1:13:20, and Chris Liddle, returning home in a 1:15:02 time, placed fifth and eighth respectively to ensure solid Spa representation inside the top ten.

The first female Strider to finish was Kelsey Wiberley, the seventh-fastest lady and 105th overall, who crossed in one hour, 29 minutes and 32 seconds.

Mairi Walker (1:33:00) and Alice Bourne (1:33:17) then ranked as the 15th and 17th-fastest ladies respectively on another landmark outing for the club.
