Leamington Spa Striders impress in Parkrun

THREE Spa Striders finished inside the top ten at the latest Leamington Parkrun.

Victor Garanton came third after finishing in an impressive time of 18:19, while Will Johnson was not too far behind, finishing just over a minute later to claim seventh and Tim Down took eighth place in 19:30.

Steven Taylor was close behind, finishing 14th in 19:57, Daniel Fleming was 44th in 21:34 and another nine runners from the Leamington-based running club also competed.

Elsewhere, Spa Strider Ladies made their debut in the Midland Ladies Cross Country League at event number one at Newbold Comyn on Saturday.




Ten Striders were running the course, which involved two muddy laps taking in Beacon Hill on both occasions.

The first Strider home was Laura Peake (99th) in at time of 28:41 and she was followed by Caroyln Wilkinson (102nd) in 28:52 and Jennie Hawkins (112th) in 28:57.


Overall the team finished 22nd out of 40 teams in the Senior Ladies section and ninth out of 31 in the Masters category.

KENILWORTH Runners collected a fine array of 13 trophies at the Warwickshire Road Race League presentation evening last Monday.

Andrew Siggers was crowned overall winner of the men’s series at the awards in Coventry and also took home the trophy for the senior men’s category, while Phil Gould was victorious in the V35 category and also came third overall in the men’s series.

Dave Pettifer won the V65 category trophy and the Kenilworth men’s teams made a clean sweep taking both the senior men’s and the veteran men’s trophies.

There were also trophy wins for Stephen Page who finished as the third senior man, Mick Williams came second in the V55 and Tom Dable finished third in the V65.

Kenilworth ladies received trophies for finishing as both the second best senior team and veteran team while Sabra Boldrini came third in the senior lady trophy.
