LEAMINGTON’s mens team matches the achievements of the club’s women’s side by clinching promotion from the West Midlands Division One on the final day of the season.

Goals from Adam Carter and Luke Lovejoy secured a narrow 2-1 win at home to Stafford, which means the men will be competing in the West Midlands Premier Division next season.

Leamington won 14 of their 18 games this season and they lost just three matches as they won promotion along with league winners Stafford.

Meanwhile, having secured promotion weeks ago, the ladies’ first team rounded off their superb season with a 6-0 demolition of Cannock.

The result means the ladies won the Midlands Division One at a canter after topping table with a gap of 13 points.

Elsewhere in the women’s section, the second team went down 2-0 away at Edgbaston, leaving them with a comfortable sixth place finish in Warwickshire Division 1.

In Warwickshire Division 2, Leamington’s third team kept their place in the league, rounding off a tough season with a 2-2 draw at home to Warwick, a result that saw them finish in eighth place overall.

Finally in the women’s section, the already long-relegated fourth team completed an incredibly difficult season with a 6-0 home defeat to Warwick.

In the rest of the men’s section, the second team secured fourth place in the East Midlands 2 league table with a 4-3 victory away at Nottingham Players, while the third team finished sixth in West Midlands 1.
