LEAMINGTON’S Aman Kumar warmed up for Saturday’s Cleary’s home show with a unanimous points decision win against Billy Davies last weekend.
In a contest that was fought to a high standard, 14-year-old Kumar came out on top against the New Saints ABC fighter over the three rounds, although he needed every ounce of his international pedigree to navigate the bout.
Head coach Edwin Cleary said: “As each round drew to a close, Davies tired and it was Aman that took control of each round.
“In what was his first contest of the season, there was a little rust from Aman, but the fight came at the right time before our home show this weekend.”
Saturday’s card, hosted by Cleary’s at Trident College in Leamington (8pm), is set to feature 14 contests in all, with fighters from the Leamington, Warwick and Rugby area all poised to do battle.
Current WBA super-flyweight champion Khalid Yafai is the guest of honour on the night, having previously visited Cleary’s gym to step up his preparation for his likely fight with Juan Estrada.
