Former Pirate checks in at the New Windmill

LEAMINGTON have bolstered their squad ahead of the new Skrill North season by signing former Bristol Rovers midfielder Jordan Goddard.

The Wolverhampton-born 20-year-old midfielder spent two seasons as a professional at Rovers after progressing through their youth system, making his debut for the first team in an FA Cup tie at Corby Town in November 2011.

However, he was one of a number of players released in May after the club dropped out of the Football League.

He is no stranger to Conference North, having spent three loan spells at Gloucester City over the past couple of years.

Brakes manager Paul Holleran said of his new acquisition: “We’re delighted to tie up a deal for Jordan. He came to our attention last season and we’ve been monitoring him for some time.

“He’s had time on loan at Gloucester in our division so it will not come as a culture shock to him. He has great potential and is a different type of player to what we already have in the squad.

“He has already shown what he can do with a good performance tonight and a well taken goal, so hopefully he will continue to do well for us.”
