RACING Club Warwick produced a stunning late comeback to beat rivals Coventry United 3-2 on Boxing Day to remain top of the table.
Warwick conceded twice in the opening half an hour before Josh Parsons reduced the deficit and late goals from Cameron Ebbutt and Josh Willis sealed a memorable win at Townsend Meadow.
The result means the Racers lead the United Counties League Premier Division South table on goal difference ahead of Wellingborough Town.
Coventry broke the deadlock on 10 minutes when Stanley Dube capitalised on a mix-up at the back to take the ball past Sam Lomax before finishing into an empty net.
And United doubled their lead on 28 minutes as Samir Muzaffar dribbled past several players before beating Lomax at his near post from the left-hand side of the penalty area.
However, Warwick responded almost straight from the restart when Parsons volleyed Jay DLionga’s cross from the right into the bottom right corner from eight-yards out.
The Racers drew level with 10 minutes left to play as Ebbutt fired home from 20-yards out after playing a neat one-two with James Hancocks.
And the home side completed the turnaround on 84 minutes when Willis glanced Callum Carsley’s corner from the right into the bottom left corner of the goal from inside the six-yard box.
Warwick are next in action at home to Eynesbury Rovers on Saturday, January 6 with kick-off at 3pm at Townsend Meadow.
