FOOTBALL - Racing Club Warwick move off bottom with big Lichfield win

Leamington Editorial 16th Dec, 2021   0

COSTELUS Lautaru scored a hat-trick as Racing Club Warwick stunned high-flying Lichfield City with a 4-0 win to move off the foot of the table.

Lautaru’s treble included two penalties with Dan Kavanagh also on the scoresheet at Townsend Meadow.

And the result means Warwick are now off the bottom of the Midland Football League Premier table after they ripped up the form book on Tuesday night..

Racing made a quick start with Lautaru hitting the post before Chris Mayuba saw his effort well-saved.

And the home side soon took the lead when Hanibal Salami was brought down in the box after a jinking run before Lautaru fired home from the spot.

The striker soon had his second when he tucked the ball home after the Lichfield keeper could only parry a shot into his path.

And after Josh O’Grady shot narrowly wide he was chopped down in the area for Racing’s second penalty of the night which Lautaru audaciously chipped in off the crossbar.

O’Grady was denied again when his low curling free-kick was saved by the visiting keeper before Kavanagh’s drilled effort went in off the post to complete the scoring.

Warwick travel to league leaders Hanley Town on Saturday, December 18 with kick-off at 3pm at the Payaro Stadium.
