LEAMINGTON FC continued preparations for the new season with an away at Boldmere St Michael’s before playing out a draw with League Two Walsall.
A pair of second-half penalties helped Leamington past Boldmere to secure their first win of pre-season.
Devon Kelly-Evans coolly converted the first spot kick after Bailey Fuller was bundled over inside the box by former Brakes defender James Bowen.
And Trialist A doubled Leamington’s lead from the spot after winning the penalty himself, confidently rifling an effort past the Boldmere goalkeeper.
This was followed by a 1-1 draw at home to Walsall at the Your Co-Op Community Stadium.
Walsall raced into an early lead when Andrew Williams wrong-footed Brakes goalkeeper Jake Weaver to find the bottom corner after just five minutes.
The visitors had plenty of chances to extend their lead only to find Weaver in inspired form between the sticks.
And Leamington snatched a draw late on when Dan Turner swept home from close range after the ball was headed back across goal into his path.
The Brakes are next in action at home to an Aston Villa XI on Saturday, July 16 with kick-off at 1pm at the Your Co-Op Community Stadium.
