RACING Club Warwick have confirmed that a number of key players have committed themselves to the cause for the club’s 100 year anniversary season in the Midlands Football League Premier Division.

Former Watford goalkeeper Charlie Bannister is one of eight players to recently announce their involvement for the 2019/20 season, and admits that it was a straightforward decision to stay put with the Racers.

“After the season we’ve just had and the success we enjoyed, it was a no brainer really,” he said.

“I spoke with Scott (Easterlow) about his visions for this season and it’s clear he wants to progress again and challenge at the top end of the table and that’s what I wanted to hear.

“There’s a lot of room for improvement, but we have a great changing room and I’m sure we’ll be able to compete again this year.

“I really enjoyed last season and hopefully next season will be the same, if not better.”

Player of the Year Joe Smith is keen to build on last season’s promotion, whilst captain Scott Turner, Sean Castleton, Luke Cole, Jack Cresswell, George Curry and Chris Johnston have all agreed to stay at Townsend Meadow.

The club have also managed to convince striker Adam Knight to join them for next season, despite high demand for his services.

Knight said: “I have known Scotty for a long time and played for him on and off for four seasons or more now.

“I left Racing last season and ended up coming back but I’m here to stay this year 100%.”
