KENILWORTH CC suffered a three-wicket defeat against Handsworth after they were bowled out for 102 to suffer their second defeat in three matches in the Warwickshire County League Division One.

Kenilworth were skittled for just 102 runs inside 37 overs with Connor Shingler (22) and Joe Atkinson (17) the only batters to score double figures as Handsworth bowler Bevon Brown (5-16) ripped through the home side’s lower order.

However, Kenilworth made life difficult for their opponents, restricting Handsworth to 90-7 before the visitors reached the required total in 29.1 overs.

Joe Atkinson (3-17) was the pick of the Kenilworth bowlers with Steve Rhodes (2-46) and Stuart Cope (1-21) also amongst the wickets.

And Kenilworth’s 2nd XI lost by four wickets against Fillongley after being bowled out for 178 despite youngster Joe Tate hitting a maiden half-century in Division Seven East.

Tate’s 57 not out helped Kenilworth tick along nicely only for their opponents to reach the required total in 43.3 overs for the loss of six wickets.

Kenilworth are next in action Knowle and Dorridge’s 2nd XI on Saturday, May 7 with the game set to begin at 12.30pm at Station Road.
