A GROUP of talented boxers from Leamington are following in the footsteps of their Olympic idol Nicola Adams after attending a female flag squad event in Birmingham.

Leah Gunton and Gabby Considine, both 14, were joined by 15-year-old Morgan Ansell in Aston on Sunday just a day after Adams won Olympic gold for the second time at Rio 2016.

Clearys coach Roy Thorton watched on from the side as all three boxers performed well and took on advice and tips along with some of the best that the Midlands has to offer.

“This is a very young squad of girls,” said Roy, who was beeming with excitement over how that performed.

“Not many gyms have females boxers so we are lucky with this bunch. They train everyday, listen and always looking to improve.

“Every week they just seem to be getting better and better and now with Morgan at England being pushed, I believe Leah and Gabby will develop faster.

“You never know we could have ourselves the next Nicola Adams.”
