IAN ALLEN won the Ashby 20-mile road race finishing just 12 seconds outside of the course record.
Allen clocked a time of 1 hour 44 minutes and 29 seconds with Neil Smith fourth (1:53:37) and Adam Notley 26th (2:06:17) as the men’s team secured first place overall.
The first lady home for the Striders was Kelsey Wiberley (2:32:46), with Carolyn Wilkinson first in the W50 category (2:34:11) and Sue Cox (2:43:45) helping the ladies secure the team prize in the process.
And other Striders to finish included: John-Paul Hunt, Paul Conway, Matt Leydon, Gethyn Friswell, Ben Cohen, Michelle Hutton, Alex Quinn, and Pete Schofield.
There was also success for Elaine Sherwin in the Cannock Chase Cani-Cross (a race where runners attach themselves to their dogs whilst running) as she won gold with Mike and silver with Daphne whilst Lucy Tugwell also took part to give her dog Reuben some competitive experience.
Elsewhere, Claire Rawbone ran the undulating forest paths and trails in the Sherwood Pines 10k in 1:01:28 whilst Ves Hill had a lovely time in the gorgeous sunshine running the Stafford Half – her first road half marathon for two years.
