OLD Leamingtonians slipped to another losing bonus point defeat away at Nuneaton Old Edwardians in Midlands 2 West (South) Division.
OL’s dominated for the majority of the game but failed again to convert pressure into points on Saturday afternoon.
The game kicked off with the visitors defending against a strong sun and an equally strong wind but they took the game to the host and dominated play for the first 15 minutes.
But they conceded a try from an interception which handed Nuneaton Old Edwardians a seven pointy lead from their first real attack of the match.
OL’s continued to dominate the game and repeatedly attacked the home goal line without any success and just before half-time the hosts increased their lead with a second try again against the run of play to take a 12-0 lead into the break.
After the re-start it was a similar story with OL’s putting their opponents under pressure throughout the second period but all they had to show for their efforts was a Ceiran Price try.
The visiting forwards repeatedly drove towards the home goal line but too often than not they lost the ball at critical times when a try looked on the cards.
It was yet another losing bonus point game which puts OL’s in a vulnerable league position second from bottom and makes converting possession into points a priority if their league status is to be maintained.
This Saturday sees the visit of bottom club Old Coventrians to the Crofts in a game that Old L’s must win. Kick off 2.15pm.
