CRICKET: WARWICK moved 84 points clear at the top of the Warwickshire Cricket League Division Five following a dominant performance against mid-table Highway.

After losing the toss, Warwick were put into bat on a green wicket.

Sensible batting from openers Adrian Passey and Graham Burke ensured Warwick saw off the challenge of the new ball to register a 50 run partnership.

Spinner Mohammad Fiaz was introduced into the attack and quickly broke the opening stand as Burke (8) was sent back to the pavillion.

Adrian Passey fell soon after when he was caught at deep cover for a well-compiled 37.

James Sood looked threatening, however the attacking intent was the cause of his dismissal as he was bowled for 22.

Youngster Umair Mushtaq hit a steady 28 in tricky batting conditions as wickets fell around him leaving Warwick on 191/8 after their 50 overs.

The below par total proved not to be a problem for Warwick though as Rajan Bhatti and Josh Osbourne produced their best opening spell of the season to reduce Highway to 46/7.

Bhatti finished with figures of 23/4 while Osbourne took three wickets for 21 runs.

Spinners Ashu Sharma and Anil Lohan were introduced to wrap things up by picking up the remaining three wickets between them, bowling Highway out for 69.

Warwick are next in action in two weeks time when they face struggling Pak Shaheen.
