POLICE have made an arrest following a robbery in which a ‘vulnerable’ woman had her purse stolen.

The victim was in the Pump Room Gardens in Leamington around 2.30pm on Monday (July 20) when she was approached by a woman on a blue bike.

The woman demanded she handed over her purse, and threatened to assault her if she failed to do so.

She then searched the victim’s handbag and stole her purse, which contained cash and a Tesco clubcard, before leaving on the bike over the bridge in the direction of York Road.

The woman is described as around 5ft 7in with brown, curly hair.

At the time of the incident she was wearing a brown hooded coat with a fur trim hood and white training shoes.

A 33-year-old woman from Leamington has since been arrested in connection with the incident as well as a robbery in Hitchman Road on Wednesday (July 22).

During the incident, which took place around 2pm, a man was threatened and cash from his wallet was stolen.

The woman remains in custody while police continue their inquiries.

They are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed either incident to get in touch.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
