Warwick Rotarian honoured for service to community

RICHARD Ashley has been honoured for his continued service to the community.

Warwick Rotarians recognised Richard as a Paul Harris Sapphire Fellow. The award is named after Rotary’s founder, Paul Harris, and was introduced by Rotary International in 1957.

Now in his 80s, Richard was inducted into the Club on 1 st October 2000 and immediately took a full part in rotary life, along with wife Mary as a member of Inner Wheel.

He was elected club president in 2004 and continued to be fully active after leaving office, including overseas fellowship visits, with the result that he was nominated as a Paul Harris Fellow in 2008.




Richard not only appears at virtually every event run by the club, including playing a major part in organising the 50th anniversary dinner, but is also busy as assistant secretary, secretary of the club service committee, member of youth service committee, compiling and running the club’s website and the huge task of annually compiling the club manual anddDirectory.
