Warwick Hospital birthing rooms given an upgrade

Leamington Editorial 2nd Jun, 2021   0

BIRTHING rooms at Warwick Hospital have been given an upgrade.

South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust transformed two of the rooms on Labour Ward which previously shared a bathroom.

Now they both have en-suites and the rooms have been renovated with softer colours, furnishing replaced and mood lighting installed.

The development was funded by the trust’s ‘Thanks a Million’ campaign. It allocated £1million to improve and develop surroundings for patients and staff.

The next stage of improvements will see the remaining four birthing rooms given an upgrade along with the Special Care Baby Unit.

Acting deputy head of midwifery, Lin Ward, said: “This is a really exciting development for maternity services at the trust. Our midwife-led birthing unit, the Bluebell Birth Centre, is only three years old and therefore is still a very new development.

“Our Labour Ward, which is situated in the main hospital, is much older. This latest development is key to enabling our trust to provide expectant mothers, who receive consultant-led care, the same modern and homely environment as the Bluebell Birth Centre.

“We look forward to welcoming future mothers and birthing their babies in the beautifully refurbished rooms.”
