Volunteers 'desperately' needed at charity shop

Leamington Editorial 28th Apr, 2018   0

VOLUNTEERS are ‘desperately’ needed to lend a hand at a Leamington charity shop.

The Barnardo’s store in Victoria Terrace receives thousands of bags of donations each year, but has lost many older volunteers who have retired and younger ones who have gone on to further education or employment.

Area business manager Belinda Germain said: “We have a fantastic team but we know that we could achieve so much more with just a little extra help each week.

“Volunteers can choose from a wide variety of roles, including sorting the donations, steaming the clothes, arranging displays and serving the customers.

“It’s a great way to meet new people, make new friends and learn new skills. It’s lots of fun, and every hour of support is always appreciated.

“Working together, we can transform the lives of some of the UK’s most vulnerable and disadvantaged children.”

The store is open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 5pm and on Sundays from 10am to 4pm.

Donations of good-quality clothing, books, toys, games, bric-a-brac and accessories are welcomed.
