FRIDAY the 13th lived up to its reputation for one unlucky lorry driver in Long Itchington.
This car transporter carrying ten new Ford models was coming into the village around 8.30am after the driver had attempted to avoid traffic hold-ups on the A46 following an accident.
But as the driver, who had set out from Merseyside, went under Snowford Hill bridge, the transporter got stuck – damaging a number of the cars on board.
The exact value of the damage to both the bridge and the cars is not yet known although an engineer was sent to assess the scene while the county council’s highway team were also called to help clear the debris.
A spokeswoman for Ford confirmed the “serious incident” was currently under investigation and said it was not possible to comment further at this stage.
