Supporters called to LGBT Equal Love Rally

Leamington Editorial 10th Feb, 2017   0

A MESSAGE of love will be spread at a rally in Leamington on Saturday (February 11).

The Equal Love Rally will be raising awareness of the rights of LGBT people from midday to 2.30pm outside the town hall.

February is LGBT History Month and 2017 also marks 50 years since the decriminilisation of homosexuality in the UK and organisers are hoping the rally will promote a message of peace, love, inclusion and acceptance for all people due to LGBT people still facing discrimination locally, nationally and in many countries around the world.

The rally will be a peaceful event where everyone is invited to show their solidarity with LGBT people.

* A FREE ‘show and tell’ talk celebrating LGBT people is open to all at the Warwickshire County Record Office.

The talk coincides with LGBT History Month and takes place on Tuesday February 21 from 1pm to 1.30pm.

For the first time the record office has begun to uncover the stories of LGBTpeople in Warwickshire which are often described as ‘hidden histories’ due to homosexuality being a criminal offence for so long.
