A SUPPOSED gas leak meant children were sent home from Lillington Nursery and Primary School today (Tuesday).
The school on Cubbington Road closed for the day after staff smelt what they believed to be gas.
The smell was later discovered to be the drains.
A school spokeswoman said: “The strong smell of gas discovered this morning was found to be coming from the schools drains and not a gas leak as such. Children were sent home as a precautionary measure while the drains are jet-cleaned.”
The school will reopen tomorrow.
