TIME-TRAVELLING youngsters got a taste of Victorian schooling.
St Mary’s Primary School in Southam recently celebrated its first school Victorian Day.
Pupils and staff dressed in Victorian clothing before the children were given lessons in the true style of the era.
Teachers were strict, pupils wrote on slates and recited times tables at the front of class.
Children and their families browsed old photos and log books in a walk-in museum organised by the school.
Special guests included representatives from St John’s museum in Warwick and Sister Sharon from the convent known as The Olde House Retreat.
All were given a classic Victorian high tea menu of cucumber and salmon sandwiches, sponge cake, scones jam and clotted cream, all washed down with home made lemonade.
